Which is easier: to forgive or not forgive? When we cause hurt, we desire forgiveness and strive to do better. Yet when others hurt us, we can justify our unwillingness to forgive. Our Lord, while dying on the cross, chose to forgive, and was rewarded with resurrection.
His teaching on forgiveness (Mt. 6:7-15) highlights the plain truth: that if we do not forgive, we will not be forgiven. Forgiveness brings new life to self and others. As followers of our Lord, we strive to imitate Him. Let us pray for the love to forgive, as we are forgiven.
Lord Jesus, You constantly forgive our foolish ways and wash away our sins. As we accept Your forgiveness, help us to lovingly extend forgiveness to everyone in our lives. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
