Images are powerful tools that speak to the core of our being. When Moses led the people in the wilderness, the Lord accompanied them as a pillar of cloud in the day and a pillar of fire at night (Ex. 13:21). Elijah experienced the Lord in a gentle whisper (1 Kgs. 19:12b).
When Jesus was transfigured in the presence of Moses and Elijah, the Lord appeared as a cloud with a voice (Mk. 9:7). Jesus the Light (Jn. 8:12), speaks of John in the gospel as a lamp (Jn. 5:32). How do we use images to strengthen our faith in the Lord?
Lord Jesus, You who are the image of the Father, have made us in Your image and likeness. May we so live our lives that others will see Your image shining brightly through us. Amen.
