In our spiritual journey, do we emphatically seek the Lord who gives, or seek primarily the gifts of God? Experience shows that we desire the Lord’s gifts, but we either take them for granted, or do not show enough gratitude to our Giver. This leads to self-absorption.
When the gifts of the Lord become our priority, we develop a skewed mentality of thinking we have a right to get them. This can lead to rejecting the Lord or asking for signs from Him when we are disappointed (Jn. 4:43-48). Seek first the Lord and He will provide.
Loving Father, You know our needs before we ask. You are the great Provider who knows what is best for us. Teach us to seek You first, and to trust in Your divine providence. Amen.
