The early Church was of “one heart and mind” and pooled their possessions so that they “had everything in common” (Acts 4:32). It was both a strategy of self-preservation for the group, and providing practical care for each member as they waited for the Lord’s return.
Believers today still anticipate the risen Lord’s return, but the model for living has evolved. What should not change is our oneness of mind and heart. The same level of care and love is to be extended to all based on our capacity and ability. We serve the Lord in each other.
Lord Jesus, You pour Your blessings upon us, so that we can thank and praise You for Your goodness. Help us to see You, serve You and elevate You through our service to all. Amen.
