Our Lord makes reference to the healing joy a mother feels after giving birth to her child (Jn. 16:20-23). The pain endured gives way to the happiness of cradling her newborn in her arms. Believers who exercise faith in God, know that our moments of suffering will soon yield to the ‘birth’ of new strength and hope. God works through pain and gives life.
Lord Jesus, Your suffering and death on the cross led the joy of Your resurrection and new life. May we always trust in Your power to strengthen us in moments of suffering, because we believe You will work to purify and embolden us to become better disciples. Amen.
