Believers should take great care in not allowing familiarity with the gospel to leave us cold and unaffected. We hear how the Disciples said how their hearts “burned” while Jesus was speaking with them (Lk. 24:13-35). When we read, hear or pray scripture, our minds should be engaged and our hearts also burn.
Be open to hearing the Word of the Lord for the first time, each time we engage scripture.
Lord Jesus, may Your word enlighten my mind, excite my heart and lead me out of the darkness of doubt into the joyful light of faith. Teach me how to listen and respond. Amen.
