Easter Bytes

The Holy Spirit comes to guide us to all truth (Jn. 16:13). Pilate asked Jesus what is truth (Jn. 18:38)? Jesus declared that He is the truth (Jn. 14:6). Therefore, it is the work of the Holy Spirit to guide us to our Lord; to listen to Him with our heart and understand with our mind; to gain courage to walk in His ways, and to grow in His love and mercy.

There is also another aspect to being guided by the Spirit to draw closer to the Lord. It is the reality of discernment. A believer may go to Church for most of his or life, but that does not mean this individual yields to the Spirit in speech or actions. This person needs growth, but it is up to the listener to carefully discern which spirit guides such a believer.

Holy Spirit, make our hearts Your tabernacle and dwell inside of us. May we allow You to guide us to the Lord and His ways. Help us to bear fruits that identify us as Your people, even as we discern when You and Your guidance are rejected by others. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
