It is not always easy maintaining a sense of hope, joy and peace through the very difficult moments of life. Whether it be the ill health of our loved ones; loss of job or income; divorce or separation; navigating the false witness and fake news spread by others; struggling with anxiety, stress and other disorders; or, ultimately, the death of a loved one. Individually or any combination of the aforementioned, they drain our energy and rob us of our joy.
Mary Magdalene was experiencing several of these symptoms as she mourned the loss and death of Jesus. She is overburdened with sorrow as she weeps at His tomb. But then the Lord appears to her and all becomes well (Jn. 20:11-18). When we see the presence of our loving and merciful Saviour in every aspect, encounter and experience of our lives, it is then that we will truly have that joy and peace that is beyond all our understanding.
Lord Jesus, touch our eyes of faith so that we may see Your risen presence in all activities of our daily lives. May we never fail to trust in the power of Your resurrection at all times. Amen.
