To “save life rather than destroy it” (Mk. 3:1-6) is not only lawful, it is also godly. When we teach and act in ways that lead to the preservation of life, we reveal the Spirit of life who resides in all of us. When faced with choices that are rooted in death (disharmony, disunity and malice) as opposed to those grounded in life (harmony, unity and friendship), we are to choose the latter as proof that we are followers of our Lord, who is our source of life.
Lord Jesus, You who give us life, are constantly at work to restore our lives so that we can relate in ways that are life-giving to all people. May our choices lead us to eternal life. Amen.
