Anyone can say a prayer, with words or silence. Anyone can say, “I pray.” But authentic and real prayer is based on faith in our God and trust in the power of His love. It is not another ‘activity’ that we do for the day, but it is the most important act we do at any time.

Since prayer connects us with our all-powerful Lord, then we should strive to be in touch with Him as much as we can. Jesus not only encourages us to “pray always”, but also to allow prayer to be the evidence of our faith (Lk. 18:1-8). Prayer effects change.

Loving Lord, accept the sacrificial surrender of ourselves to You in our moments of prayer. May our prayer lives move us to deeper faith in You. As we engage You in prayer, give us the grace we need to repent from our sins, to wait on Your response and to grow in favour with You and Your people in all our ways. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
