Are we living with a real awareness of the Lord’s return at any moment (Lk. 17:20-25)? We are told that His kingdom is already among us. Therefore we are to live and behave as true citizens whose delight is to do His will and conform to His way.
But we often get caught up in the issues of our everyday lives. At times, we may forget that we are God’s children. Since the Lord will come at an unexpected time, then we need to ask if He will be happy or angry when He returns and finds us at any given moment.
All of us need to carefully ponder our moments and choices, and do our best to live in a state of readiness to meet our Lord. Indeed, that one moment in time when He comes may eventually determine our eternal destiny of paradise gained or paradise lost.
Loving Lord, as we contemplate Your promise to return at an unexpected time, may we live in a state of spiritual readiness to meet You. May the many moments of our lives be used to not only draw us closer to You in this life, but also be the bases of gaining eternal life in heaven, where You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
