In the spiritual life, we all have a choice to either follow the crowd or the promptings of the Spirit in our hearts. Both realities have led to the establishment of different religions and diverse spiritualities in our world. Learning how to live with diversity is a given.
In today’s gospel (Lk. 9:18-22), the crowd who experienced Jesus assigned various labels to Him. Peter’s answer was a combination of God’s revelation and his own experience. Each of us has to spend quality time with our God so that He can lead us in His way.
Loving Father, You not only give us the gift of life, but You also create a space in our hearts that can only be satisfied by Your love. May we choose to practice a conscious awareness of Your saving presence in our daily lives, so that as we listen and discern, we may be led into the real joy of Your eternal paradise. Amen.
