The Holy Spirit works in unison with the Son and the Father. So united are They in all Their work, that the traits of One are mirrored and identified as the actions of All. In the gospel, the saving work of Jesus, who came from the Father, is associated with the Spirit’s power evident in John, Elijah or one of the prophets (Lk. 9:7-9).
The message is clear: if we yield and allow the Holy Spirit to animate our lives, then we too will be identified with Jesus, or one of the apostles, prophets or saints. This is the call and challenge of every believer. We are to be so connected with our God that others will ask if we are the Lord, or thank us for being His visible vessel.
Loving Father, You create us in Your image and likeness so that we can reflect the light of Your Son. May Your Spirit help us to reveal Your love and mercy in our daily lives. Amen.
