Our Lord is our light. We who follow Him are empowered to be His light. Our light of good thoughts, words and actions are to be like a lamp on a lampstand (Lk. 8:16-18). This lamp’s light should shine as a beacon of hope and a sign of encouragement for all people.
Believers are to “refuse no one the good on which he has a claim when it is in your power to do it for him” (Prv. 3:27). The good that we do for others affirms our love for our good God. It becomes the marker of our growth in holiness and the oil in our lamp of faith.
Loving God, pour a “little more oil in our lamp to keep it burning”. May the light of our good deeds for the benefit of others bring them assuring peace and give You glory. Amen.
