We are made to love and be loved. This is because God, who made us, is love. This same love can result in marriage or life-long friendship. However, because of various reasons, the heart can grow cold and hard (Mt. 19:3-12). When this happens, relationships go asunder.
It is true that some marriages were not meant to be. It is also true that because people are at different levels of psychological and spiritual growth, friendships are impossible. But we should always guard against ‘hearts of stone’. To love God and all people is our mission.
Lord Jesus, help us to exercise and choose love in all circumstances and experiences of life. May the ‘heavenly’ love we feel from You gets translated into sharing ‘earthly’ love to all that exists through Your creating hands. Amen.
