We glorify the Lord and meet His approval when we fulfil our commitments and duties. In today’s gospel (Mt. 17:22-27), Jesus pleased the authorities by paying the temple tax. We show ourselves as a people of integrity and good character when we pay our debts and follow through on our verbal and written contracts. This is how we please the Lord.
Lord Jesus, You paid the authorities what was due, and You paid for our sins by Your blood. May we show ourselves worthy by fulfilling our obligations to You, and settling all the debts and agreements we make to each other. Amen.
