Persistence in prayer is to be balanced with perseverance in faith. We should humbly and lovingly approach the Lord and place our petitions before Him. Like the mother in today’s gospel (Mt. 15:21-28), we pour out our hearts to our loving God.

But then comes the challenge. As the Lord commends the mother for her faith, do we have faith that the Lord who desires our good will act as He sees fit? Faith not only involves our trusting in God’s power, it also includes embracing His plan and will.

Lord Jesus, hear the cries from our lips and our hearts. As we place our petitions in Your hands, may we embrace the answer You give for the glory of Your name. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
