Only strong people can love the way God desires (Mt. 5:43-48). People who choose to make themselves enemies of each other are revealing that they are too weak to rise above their negative emotions, and do not have the courage to gracefully opt for love. Persecutors do not speak well of the persecuted, and so surrender to the darkness of their minds rather than the light of Christ. Jesus tells us to pray for them because they are too frail to pray to be God’s children. Be strong in the Lord, and love as He commands. Loving Father, we reveal that we are Your children when we courageously love the difficult and unloveable in our lives. May the light of Your love always shine through us. Amen.
