Happy Emancipation Anniversary Jamaica! Today we give thanks as a Nation for the ways the Lord has worked in our Nation’s history. We cannot attain anything important and truly significant without sacrifice. Sacrifice is the foundation for growth and life.
In the ‘hands’ of the Lord, no sacrifice is too small. We see how five loaves and two fish fed thousands of people (Mt. 14:13-21). The acts of selfless sacrifice of our ancestors resulted in our freedom. The sacrifice of Christ allows for forgiveness and eternal life.
Today, let us offer a sacrifice of praise to God and thank Him for those who sacrificed their lives for the development of Nations around the world. Let us honour the Lord by making choices and sacrifices that lead to real peace, joy and the well-being of all.
Loving Father, we thank You for the way Your Spirit worked through the various sacrifices of our ancestors to effectively result in our Emancipation and Independence. May we use the gift of our freedom to celebrate Your goodness, and do all things well in Your sight. Amen.
