We use words to communicate (sign language for the hearing impaired). In the spiritual life, three statements should always be on our lips, “Lord, I love You”; “Lord forgive me”; “Lord, help me to please You”. Our words should reflect the true state of our heart with our God.
The more we approach the Lord in prayer with humility, the greater our words should be aimed at praising and thanking our God. This will hopefully spill over into our conversations with each other. Let our words be not only genuine (Mt. 5:33-37) but also compassionate.
Lord Jesus, You are the Word that speaks of the Father’s love and mercy. May we glorify You by speaking words that are encouraging, inspiring and truly kind. Amen.
