Our group indicates our identity. The behaviour and mentality of any crowd has to be evaluated to see if we belong to that group. In the gospel (Mt. 9:18-26), the first crowd gathered and listened to Jesus, but only the woman who desired healing had faith.
The second crowd went even further, ridiculing Jesus to the the point that they had to be put out. Only when the disbelievers departed could Jesus perform his miracle. Crowds can either help to lead us to, or lead us away from Him. Discern and choose wisely.
Lord Jesus, even though you came to save the entire world, You were selective in choosing Your Disciples to learn from You and then evangelise the world. Teach us how to discern. May Your Spirit help us to walk with the right crowd who embrace Your word of life. Amen.
