Daily Byte

Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, reveals the following line, “He that dies pays all debts” (Act 3). This is true in the physical plane because the dead cannot personally repay anything. That is left to those who handle the deceased’s estate.

The spiritual plane takes on a different dimension. The death of Jesus pays not for His sins but for the debts of the world (Jn. 3:16). His heart, broken while He lived, is now pierced in His death (Jn. 19:31-37) out of love for us. How do we repay this love?

Loving Saviour, You willingly gave Your life for us because we are the pinnacle of Your Most Sacred Heart. May our hearts be full of love for You, so that our lives manifest the joy we have in knowing You have fully paid our debts and desire our company forever. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
