Work and rest are the two ‘legs’ on which we walk through life. We all need some form of work to feel a sense of purpose and accomplishment. We also do need moments of rest for rejuvenation of the mind, body and spirit. Genesis 1:20-2:4a depicts our God working and resting. This is more a message for us than it is about God, since God is beyond our human traits and needs. Ours is the task to show gratitude to our God and imitate His ways.
Today, may our work glorify God and our rest teach us to trust in His peaceful presence.
Loving Father, we thank You for all the good You have created in our world. May our work give You honour, our rest strengthen our faith and our lives give You glory. Amen.
