Jesus reveals that belonging to the family of God is not about wealth, status or power. It is about doing the will of God (Mk. 3:35). This will is defined by His holy Word which guides our lives. However, because people can interpret the Word of the Lord and the experiences of life differently, the common ground and ‘acid test’ of proving ourselves as Jesus’ family is revealing the fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:23-23) in our daily lives. Do we do this?
Lord Jesus, You have made us Your family in name. Pour Your Spirit upon us, so that by our lives of love, kindness, patience and joy, we may prove to be Your family in fact. Amen.
