Each of us has our own unique context and struggles of life. We are ‘blind’ to our sins. We are in the dark as to how our emotions, and impulsive words and actions, lead to pain. We see no ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ despite our hard work, or struggling against the many ‘storms’ of life. The darkness can feel overwhelming.
Yet it is precisely into one’s personal story that the main character of Jesus our Lord steps into the narrative. He comes to each of us in the ‘space of night’ to bring His eternal light. It is He who asks, just as He did the blind man ( Lk. 18:35-43), “What do you want me to do for you?” Ask the Lord for the light that leads to life.
Lord Jesus, You are the light of my life. Lead me out of any darkness that has cloaked my mind, heart, body or spirit. Let Your light be the beacon that leads me to eternal life. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
