“Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:11). This verse is often quoted in many Christian celebrations. We make this acclamation with joyful hearts because we are grateful that our salvation comes from Him, whose name is above every name.

Outside of our celebrations, how do we treat the holy name of Jesus? Do we take His name in vain or show disrespect? Do we honour His name so that those who are not yet Christian can see and hear the difference His name holds for us? Always respect His name.

Lord Jesus, Your name brings joy and peace. Help us to recognise the power of Your name, so that our lips and lives may offer the praise and fitting service that is rightfully Yours. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
