We either take Jesus at His word, or we don’t. We either believe in the mercy He bestows and the power of His resurrection, or we don’t. On this Solemnity of All Souls, we pray in hope for all our departed loved ones. We hear the Lord saying that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life, and will be raised on the last day (Jn. 6:40). By commending our loved ones to the Lord of life, we not only trust in His saving love, but also mourn with the comfort that we will be re-united with them and our Lord forever. Trust Him.
Lord Jesus, You are our resurrection and our life. Welcome our loved ones into that place You have promised to prepare for them. May we live so as to inherit a place in heaven. Amen.
