Many voices come our way. Some are of God and some are of the devil. Paul addressed the different voices who spoke either for or against Christ’s resurrection (1 Cor. 15:12-20). We have family, friends and co-workers/acquaintances in our lives. Their voices can be of God or the devil at various times in their lives, based on the state of their minds and hearts, as the events of life and consequent interpretation or assessment make an impact. So how can we discern when one is being an agent of good or evil? One measure is to use the good news of Christ’s resurrection as a guide. It brings new hope and an assurance of peace. Therefore, people whose words and actions ‘lift’ our minds and spirits, and lead us to joy in Christ, are those who speak for God. But those whose words and actions drag us into anger and confusion, are those of the devil. To whom do we listen? Discern. Lord Jesus, Your words are spirit and Your resurrection leads us to life. May we choose to listen to Your voice, and learn to discern and reject the voice of the devil around us. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
