Daily Byte

The works of the flesh are in constant battle with the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:18-25). Yet despite the description by Paul, we often yield to the identified vice of the former and have to work harder at the traits of the latter. It is one thing to fall in the flesh, but it is a concern when one does not recognise the need for conversion and change through the Spirit.

God, who is love, patiently waits and works through His Spirit to help us to become better sons and daughters. The Lord blesses our tithes and good works. But He also reminds us to pay attention to love for Him (Lk. 11:42), the primary motive for ongoing repentance. The struggle in the flesh is ours. The victory through the Spirit is the Lord’s. Yield to Him.

Lord Jesus, the fruit of Your love surpasses the works of our flesh. Teach us how to discern between the flesh and the Spirit, so that the fruit of our lives may give You glory. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
