We value our ‘exterior’ image. We purchase soap, clothes, beauty products and pay for exercises at the gym, or undergo medical procedures, to have and present a certain image to the world. Today Jesus challenges us to have the same zeal and pre-occupation with having a clean and positive ‘interior’ image (Lk. 11:39-40). This requires a constant and dedicated uprooting of anger, jealousy, bitterness, selfishness and greed. If we allow Him, the Lord who loves us will cleanse our ‘outside’ and ‘inside’ for His glory.
Let us spend our days giving attention to our external and internal image, so that we may truly become conformed to the image of Christ who resides in us through His Spirit.
Lord Jesus, through Your blood and grace, we are cleansed of our sins. Help us to yield to the guidance of Your Spirit, so that our ongoing repentance and conversion may make us clean on the inside, and truly reflect Your light and beauty on the outside. Amen.
