“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins” (1 Cor. 15:17). The true sacrifice of Jesus on the cross replaces the ancient sin offerings of food and animals to appease God. In Christ, God offers Himself for our redemption and salvation.
The sign of Jonah affirmed by Jesus (Lk. 11:29-30), points to their both being ‘removed from sight’ for three days. Their resurgence led to new life: Jonah for the Ninevites and Jesus for the world. Celebrate the forgiveness we have, and show our gratitude by forgiving all.
Lord Jesus, You came to save us from our sins. Help us to embrace Your mercy and forgiveness in our lives, and in gratitude, extend mercy, love and compassion to everyone we encounter. Amen.
