How do we define our self-worth? Is our ultimate value based on what we have or what we share? The poor widow in today’s gospel (Lk. 21:1-4) challenges our concept of what is truly valuable. Material things will fade away, but spiritual values are eternal.

By giving away all that she had, she was placing her trust completely in God. Her faith was not lip service but evidenced by her practical sharing. Our real value is linked to our Jesus who gave His life for our salvation. May our ‘hearts of gold’ lead us to share.

Lord Jesus, You revealed that true love is identified in the practical ways we share and care for others. May the spiritual values we practice lead us into Your saving arms. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
