Daily Byte

Some people treat Church as a club rather than as a community of believers in God. The struggle for power; the ‘payment’ of dues; a ‘pecking’ order that determines who is in and who is out; who gets support and who is ignored, are all mentalities experienced.

The above then get ‘projected’ on God. God’s blessings are those who belong to my group. This sets up the false notion that those I dislike are rejected and condemned. Our salvation depends wholly on God’s mercy and not on people’s mouths (Lk. 13:22-30).

Loving Lord, bathe us with Your mercy, sustain us with Your grace and fill us with Your love. May we use our freedom to draw close to You in this life, so that we can joyfully anticipate spending eternity with You in the life that is to come. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
