“You are set free.” These words of Jesus to the woman in today’s gospel (Lk. 13:10-17) are also meant for each of us. If we repent, are truly sorry for our sins and come to the Lord for mercy, He will respond. He came to set us free from captivity.
The question is, do we truly believe in the words and power of our Lord? Why do so many of God’s people still hold on to our past sins or the sins of others, and carry this ‘weight’ on our shoulders? If the Lord sets us free, we are free indeed (Jn. 8:36).
Lord Jesus, forgive us our sins. Free us from any guilt, shame or anything that threatens to keep us captive. May we use our freedom to bring delight to You and all people. Amen.
