Daily Byte

Jesus performed many miracles. He taught the crowd with eloquence and conviction. He answered His detractors with such wisdom that often stunned them into silence, or forced them to speak ill of Him behind His back. He was truly exemplary in all His activities.

Yet at no time do we hear of the disciples asking the Lord to teach them any of the above. It is in today’s gospel that we hear the only thing ever asked of Him, which was to teach them how to pray (Lk. 11:1-4). Prayer is the ultimate imitation and connection with our Lord.

Lord Jesus, let Your Spirit help us to pray. May the words and silence we offer in prayer not only keep us connected with You, but also lead us into holiness of life. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
