When the Lord called Matthew to follow Him (Mt. 9:9-13), Jesus not only saw the potential of Matthew being a Disciple, but He also knew that extending love and mercy do motivate the recipient to change and become better. Matthew converted and became a Saint.
Our Lord calls each of us to follow Him daily. Like Matthew, He knows our weakness and all our sins. However, the closer we walk with Him, the greater His love strengthens us and the more His mercy purifies us. Let us walk with our Lord and strive to become His Saints.
Lord Jesus, although You know our faults and failings, like Matthew, You still call us to follow You. May our response enable us to grow in deeper awareness of Your grace and mercy, so that we may all be effective Disciples, Saints who shape the world for Your glory. Amen.
