Daily Byte

Twenty years ago today, I watched the terrifying images on television. The sight of the Twin Towers in New York collapsing after being hit by two planes was heart-breaking. The loss of lives and the terror threats that surfaced would change our way of life forever.

One year later, I visited the site. As I stood where visitors were allowed, I could literally feel a thick cloud of sadness and pain in the air. The deceased’s now silent screams were ringing in my ears. Tears fell from my eyes as I offered prayers for their eternal rest.

How do we build strong spiritual houses? Jesus tells us that anyone who listens and acts on His words will stand firm in the trials of life. But the one who ignores His words will see your house, like the Towers, crumble and fall when attacked (Lk. 6:43-49).

Today, pray for the grace to not only listen to our God, but also to act on them in the manner that He desires. The more we value the dignity of every individual and the sacredness of all life, the more the edifice of our faith lives will be fortified and stand tall.

Holy Spirit, fill us with the gift of faith. As we listen and act on Your words and promptings, may we be strengthened against the daily attacks that threaten our spiritual lives. Help us by Your power to stand firm and strong for Your honour and glory. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
