The meaning of repentance is to have a change in mind and heart. Whatever the state and conviction of one’s mind and heart, repentance means that we alter the trajectory of our thoughts, decisions and actions to journey down a new path of life.
On this first Monday of the New Year, the Lord invites us to “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mt. 4:17). Anything in our minds and hearts that is not grounded in love for God, self and others needs to change. Repent and live in peace.
Lord Jesus, Your mercy makes us clean and Your love spurs us to change and become better citizens of Your kingdom. Bless us in our efforts to please You in all things. Amen.
