True Disciples understand that life is not about self, but of the Saviour. When John says, “He must increase and I must decrease” (Jn. 3:30), this signals the reality of what it means to follow the Lord. We become conscious of ourselves only to realise that we are to lose ourselves in the Lord. Vanity and pride keep us distant from the Lord. Modesty and humility allow our ‘sacred self’ to become ‘one’ with the bridegroom.
Lord Jesus, we celebrate Your emptying Yourself to become one like us. May we choose to empty ourselves to become one with You, so that as we lose ourselves in You, we may find the joy, peace and eternal life that You alone can bestow. Amen.
