No matter how hard we try, we can never please all the people all the time. This truth is highlighted in today’s gospel (Mt. 11:16-19). In their different approaches to spirituality, John was called a demoniac and Jesus was labelled as a drunkard and sinner.

The secret to being at peace in all circumstances of life is to seek to please the Lord. He who made us, knows our thoughts, intentions, contexts and circumstances of our lives. If we choose to make the Lord our priority, then everything else will fall into place.

Lord Jesus, because of Your great love for us, You overlooked the uninspiring labels of people and their chants to crucify You. Your focus was to please Your Father and to save us as Your sheep. Help us to seek Your guidance at all times and to live by Your will. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
