Here is a sobering and humbling thought: our God is so fully self-sufficient that He neither needs our worship nor our service. So why does He command us to worship Him alone, follow His ways and work in His “vineyard” (Mt. 21:28-32)?
The answer is that God who made us, knows what we need to do in order to become the best version of ourselves. We worship Him because we need His grace and mercy. We obey and serve Him because these actions lead us into eternal life.
Loving Lord, may we never fail to offer You fitting worship that comes from our hearts that are filled with gratitude for Your many blessings in our lives. May our obedience to Your commands and the service we render make Your vineyard and kingdom fruitful. Amen.
