“One can wish upon a star, two can make that wish come true. One can stand alone in the dark, two can make the light shine through” (Marvin and Kim). The power of one person is enhanced when two people of like minds join forces and energy. As the song states, “One can have a dream, two can make that dream so real.”
The danger of operating as an individual is that one can get absorbed in one’s own world and get lost in the journey of life. It takes another person - full of love - to search, find and rescue the one who goes astray. This is the image of our Lord (Mt. 18:12-14). Although each of us is blessed, we cannot survive as individuals.
God comes to each of us every day of our lives. In fact, He is always present. We do not see nor feel His presence because we get too absorbed in our personal issues and numerous challenges of life. But He who created us did not design us to be alone. He made us to be with Him. “One can speak of love, two can say how it feels.”
Loving Shepherd, Your care for us is evident in the many ways You guide and provide for our daily needs. You so value each of us that You dedicate Yourself to rescue us from all that threatens us in this pasture or the next. May we remain firmly in Your company. Amen.
