In reality, we are all ‘labourers’ for an individual, group or ideal. The person can be the boss, owner or employer. The group can be the family, company or any other institution. The ideal can be a cause, purpose or goal on which our efforts are expended.
Since we are all labourers in a ‘contextual harvest’, we need to ponder to whom do we give our best efforts? Our God is the ultimate owner of the harvest (Mt. 9:37-38). By choosing to labour to build His kingdom, we are assured of the ‘pay’ of everlasting life.
Loving Lord, You own everything in existence. You create each of us and invite all of us to labour for You, by using every aspect of our lives to bring You glory and build Your kingdom. May our efforts at evangelisation yield growth in personal holiness, communal awareness of Your faithful love and the assurance of spending eternity with You. Amen.
