Advent Byte

“Yes” and “no”: two words that guide our spiritual lives. We can be like the two sons in the gospel (Mt. 21:28-32) at different moments in our lives. If we choose to say “yes” to God’s word of light, and say “no” to the voice of darkness, then we will grow spiritually. If we say “yes” to our ego’s appetite and selfishness, while saying “no” to the Holy Spirit’s urging in our lives, then we risk losing our reward of eternal life with our God.

May we choose to imitate the voice, attitude and action of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who gives us a positive example. Like her, may we say, “Yes Lord, let it be done to me according to Your word.”

Lord Jesus, help us to follow You as You desire. May our consent to Your word, grace and Holy Spirit in our lives lead us all into the joys of Your everlasting kingdom. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
