Daily Byte

People can go to Church for years and “know of” Jesus, but never really “know” Him personally. Those who “know of” Jesus see the Church as a club to which one belongs, while those who “know” Him see the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ in which we grow in grace with the Lord, bearing gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. The difference between the two groups can be gleaned from today’s gospel. Nathanael was not content to only listen to Philip about Jesus, but chose to see, hear and spend time with Him. Then by being with Jesus, he declared, “You are the Son of God” (Jn. 1:49). To know Him is to love Him and His people. To which group do you belong? Lord Jesus, touch our eyes to see You, our ears to listen, our hearts to love and our minds to truly understand. May we choose to grow in Your grace and favour. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
