Jesus said, “If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit” (Mt. 15:14). This advice is true on various levels. On a physical level, a person who cannot see is not able to properly lead anyone safely. On an emotional level, an angry individual usually imparts this feeling to another, robbing both of peace. On an intellectual level, one who is distant from the facts or proper learning, cannot be a source of valid information. Jesus’s advice is also applicable on a spiritual level. If an individual does not know the love of God, His tender mercy and transforming power, this person cannot be a good source of drawing others to Him. Additionally, every believer has to consciously discern the ‘blind spots’ that exist or surface over the passage of time. May the light of Christ illuminate our lives, so that our ‘blind spots’ will be known and eventually healed. Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world. May the light of Your love lead us out of any area of darkness in our lives, and guide us along the safe path into the joys of Your kingdom. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
