Every loving parent wants what is best for their child. The gospel reveals the mother of the sons of Zebedee asking Jesus to have them sit in places of honour (Mt. 20:20-21). This was an understandable request from a parent whose desire was for her sons to advance in status and be celebrated in their achievement. But Jesus reminded her that her sons, and all of us, are children of our heavenly Father who has a plan for everyone (Mt. 20:23). If parents genuinely want to see their children advance in life, then how much more does our heavenly Father want the same and does everything to make it happen. Today, trust in the Father’s plans. Lord Jesus, as You sought and trusted in Your Father’s plans for You, teach us how to do the same, knowing that He only has good things in store for us. Amen.
