Daily Byte

We are fearful of loss. Some losses include those of status and privilege; health and wealth; family and friends; death and its uncertainties. Loss is part of life, and it is quite a challenge to cope and recover. One way to deal with loss is to rely on our faith in Jesus. We may not be able to prevent loss, but our God helps us to have a proper perspective. Loss takes on new meaning with God. Jesus said, “Whoever loses your life for my sake will find it” (Mt. 10:39). Once we place Jesus at the centre of our lives, we gradually learn how to celebrate what we have and gain, and how to let go and surrender what we lose. If we take Jesus as our all, then we have nothing to lose. Lord Jesus, daily You give Your all to me. Help me to return my all to You, recognising that when I lose myself and all that is mine to You, it is then that I gain everything. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
