Daily Byte

If we believe that Jesus is the Word of God, then are we prepared to listen to Him? He tells us that “Everyone who hears my words and acts on them will be wise” (Mt. 7:23). Wisdom is attained when we consciously remove the distractions in our minds, and apply ‘physical‘ distancing from work and play to focus on His voice. Three practical ways to be attuned to the words of Jesus are: 1. Spend quality time with Scripture. Like Mary, ponder His words in our hearts. 2. Be still and consciously recall that Jesus is present in our lives. Give thanks always. 3. “Speak Lord.” Allow the silence, locution or inspiration to lead to discerned actions. Lord Jesus, You are the Word of life. Speak Lord and help us to listen. May we deliberately learn how to remove the distractions, so that by being more attentive to Your word, we may take the necessary actions that will build our faith in You, our solid rock. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
