Daily Byte

God is love and law-giver. Since He is our Creator and the entire universe is permeated with His presence and laws, then the ultimate law of the universe is love. Every law is designed in love to lead us to life. The law of gravity keeps us from floating away. The revealed laws of the Ten Commandments are legislated for acknowledging and worshipping the one true God (1 Kgs. 18:39), and for the preservation of life and property. The current restrictions to be observed during the COVID-19 pandemic are for everyone’s benefit. Human beings need laws for guidance and direction. Every Family, Religion and Society has laws, written or unwritten, which highlight an acceptable way of life for the good of all. Where laws are oppressive and do not promote equality and life, discernment is needed for change. This is why we should seek the Lord who came to fulfil the law (Mt. 5:17). Different minds will have different views, which means disagreements will always exist. When this happens, let genuine love lead to the common good and life for all. Loving Father, You spoke and all things came into being. Help us to embrace Your word of life, forgive us when we fail, and guide us to promote the common good. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
